Respiratory Infections Can Be an Increase

sanitasdental311

When you breathe through your mouth the following are a result:

  1. Increase risk of respiratory infections

  2. Increased risk of snoring and sleep apnea

  3. An increase in exposure to mold and pollutants, will not filter these out as opposed to breathing through your nose

  4. You’re likely to have crowded teeth

  5. Promotes cavities

  6. Decrease in mental and physical performance

  7. An increase in stress can impact the quality and quantity of your sleep

By changing the way you breathe you can reduce those risks. Dentists can help you change your breathing patterns by examining your airways. It should be an important component of a dental exam, evaluation, and assessment for both children and adults. If needed, your dentist will refer you to a sleep physician, ENT, pulmonologist, a myofunctional therapist, or orthodontist.

Nasal breathing can result in a higher IQ, less daydreaming, and can improve their performance at school as they are more attentive.
